Bring your vehicle to one of our locations for an inspection during our business hours. We will check it out and let you know if repair work should be done. Sometimes a rock may hit a windshield and just cause a surface pit, or it might aggravate a previously done repair. In those situations there is no need for any work to be done, and we will not perform unnecessary work. We can tell by inspecting the windshield whether or not there's a new chip that actually needs to be repaired.

Usually not. We generally operate on a first-come first-served basis. So just bring the vehicle to one of our locations during our business hours and we will take care of you as quickly as possible.

No problem. Just call or text us and we'll work out a way to accommodate you. We may ask you to send us a picture of the windshield damage to try to determine if it's something we can help you with.

Typically we go through insurance and if you have full coverage with any of the major companies they will waive the deductible for repairs; we just take whatever they pay and there will be no charge to you. That's because it's much cheaper than helping you replace the windshield if the cracks spread. If you don't have comprehensive coverage, then our standard rate is $50 for the first chip and $15 per additional. It may be a little more or less depending on the size of the chip or crack, but we'd have to see it to give you an accurate quote.

We can actually repair just about any size crack, but our goal is to make sure it's worthwhile to you. The longer a crack gets, the lower the chance of success because the structural integrity of the glass is more compromised. Also, keep in mind that repaired cracks do not become completely invisible. They usually do look a fair amount better, but the main goal is to prevent them from spreading further. If a crack extends more than halfway across the windshield, we recommend getting a new windshield because when it's that long there's very little chance of stopping it from spreading more and it's really not going to look very good afterwards.

That depends on the glass. In order for us to repair any glass, it must be laminated safety glass, which is two layers of glass with a layer of plastic-like material in between. Most vehicles only have safety glass for the windshield, but some of the newer models of certain vehicles also have side windows and/or sunroofs that are also made of safety glass. So as long as it's safety glass, we can repair it. We cannot repair Plexiglass or Tempered glass.

Yes, glass becomes more fragile in extreme temperatures. So we always have our customers pull into the shade of our tent whenever the glass is hot to the touch. If cars are left outside overnight when the temperature goes below freezing, moisture can get into chips or cracks and freeze, causing cracks to spread. If you try to defrost a windshield when it has a crack developing, that can also make it spread. Or if you take a car through a car wash on a hot day, the colder high-pressure water hitting the hot windshield can also cause a crack to spread.

Yes, on rainy or snowy days, or if you clean the windshield with fluid when there's a crack or chip needing repair, water or moisture gets into it and can mingle with the resin making it a weak repair job. For that reason, if we see moisture in a chip or crack when you arrive to get a repair done, we will ask you to come back a little later once it's had a chance to dry out again. If you can put a wide piece of clear tape, like box tape, over the damaged area to keep moisture out of it until a repair can be done, that will help it have a better chance of not spreading.

Our warranty is good as long as you have the windshield. Even if you sell the vehicle, the warranty transfers to the new owner. Once a repair is done, the chances of a crack spreading again are very slim, but not impossible. Glass can be a little bit unpredictable, so be sure to keep your yellow copy of the invoice with the vehicle because that is your warranty.

No, that's not covered by our warranty. Since glass is somewhat unpredictable, cracks can spread during or after a repair and we really have no control over that. When you bring us a damaged windshield, we always do our best to save it from having to be replaced. And as part of our warranty, we will always do more work on a spreading crack to try to stop it if that's what you want. But if a crack spreads to the point where you decide you want to have the windshield replaced, the best we can do for you is recommend someone else who can replace it because we don't do full windshield replacements.

No, we are an independent glass shop, not part of the Safelite network. Most insurance companies have a contract with Safelite Solutions to provide glass claim administration and support. That means we do have to go through them for glass claims, but it doesn't mean you have to use Safelite Auto Glass to work on your windshield. If you call your insurance claims line to report glass damage, they will typically transfer you to Safelite Solutions to initiate the glass claim. Then all you have to do to use our shop is tell them you want your windshield repaired by Precision Auto Glass and give them our phone number: 208-991-2997. However, you don't have to make this call because we can initiate the call for you when you come to us for a repair. We have all the insurance company glass claim hotline numbers pre-programmed in our phone.
